Ilwaco Artworks Community Clay Studio

Ilwaco Artworks is raising funds to build a new atmospheric ceramic kiln and outdoor gathering space. We've raised $10,000 toward our $25,000 goal. Now we're asking our community to help us bring this project to life!

What makes this kiln special?

An atmospheric kiln uses wood, soda vapor, and the movement of flame to create remarkable colors, textures, and surfaces on ceramics. These specialized firing techniques are rarely accessible to community studios in our region, often requiring artists to travel to Portland or Seattle.

We're building more than a kiln. We're creating a destination for the arts.

This project will provide:

Hands-on education: Specialized workshops, collaborative firings, and demonstrations for artists of all experience levels.
Artistic exchange: Opportunities to welcome regional, national, and international artists, students, and instructors to Ilwaco.
Community gathering: A covered outdoor space for artist talks, art markets, demonstrations, and community events.
Local economic benefits: Bringing visitors to the Peninsula and supporting the local businesses that make our community special.
