Looking, Observing and Seeing....
A limited handmade ceramic series in collaboration with Sou’wester Arts and multimedia artist, Meaghan Lynch.
Created during her Sou’wester Artist Residency, Brooklyn-based artist Meaghan Lynch developed a series of botanical illustrations inspired by the unique plant communities of the Long Beach Peninsula. Through walks, research, and close observation, she gathered and studied native species. Her drawings present these plants as distinct, living characters, offering a deeper connection to place and a shift in how we see the natural world. In collaboration with Ilwaco Artworks, this collection extends into postcards, ceramics, and decal packs, bringing the spirit of the peninsula into everyday objects.
“I was deeply inspired by my time hiking around the Peninsula. It led me to consider if I could return to my home in urban Brooklyn, NY with my “Peninsula Eyes” to pay as careful attention to moments of native plants in my daily life. Could I carefully catch glimpses of nature, while walking through the City? All these plants have a story to tell us, if we listen.”
